Netflix has finally confirmed the long-awaited release date for the third and final series of After Life.
The black comedy-drama has been created, written, directed and stars comedian and actor Ricky Gervais.
It follows his character, Tony, as his world is turned upside down and he is hit with immense grief following the loss of his wife.
The acclaimed drama was first released in 2019, with series two being released just a year later in 2020.
Ricky will be reprising his role as Tony, a local journalist in the fictional town of Tambury, when the show returns to Netflix on January 14.
The first-look images show Diane Morgan (Motherland, Mandy) reprising her role as Tony's colleague Kath and Kerry Godliman (Derek, Bad Move) returning as Tony's wife Lisa, who he has flashback memories of.
Tom Basden (Plebs) playing Tony's brother-in-law Matt also makes an appearance in the newly released pictures and of course Tony's dog, Brandy can be seen returning for the third series too.
Ricky announced the release date on his social media accounts on Tuesday (December 14) saying: "Official Artwork for #AfterLife3. On Netflix around the world. Friday 14th January"
Fans of the black comedy from around the world quickly took to Twitter to share their delight at the news of the new series.
"Can’t wait for the new series of #AfterLife3 the first two certainly took us on a rollercoaster of emotions, great writing by @rickygervais great acting by the whole cast, roll on 14/1/22!" Dawny replied.
Miranda added: "Can't wait. Hoping there will be some more scenes with the lovely lady on the graveyard's bench. Those scenes are my absolute favourite."

The third and final series of After Life will be available to stream on Netflix from January 14 2022.
