Joe Lolley was again the name on the lips of every Nottingham Forest fan on Saturday evening.
The Reds’ Player of the Season made quite an impact having come off the bench just after the hour, scoring one and setting up another.
His goal was something to behold, as we've now come to expect from the ex-Huddersfield man.
He lashed in an unstoppable shot past Atromitos goalkeeper Balazs Megyeri a minute into stoppage time – rekindling memories from last term when he notched up one or two screamers, after setting up Michael Dawson for the second Forest goal of the night.
By that point, Sabri Lamouchi’s Reds had done more than enough to comfortably beat their Greek opponents, but Lolley’s thunderbolt from the edge of the area nestled into the top corner to put the gloss on an impressive 3-0 victory in Athens, and give fans an excuse to get a little excited.
A relatively easy tap in from Sammy Ameobi gave the visitors a first half lead at the Peristeri Stadium, before Ameobi’s clever flick found Lolley who rolled it across the box for Michael Dawson to prod home at the back stick.
Lolley’s rasping drive is already sweeping the internet, and it will unlikely escape the attentions of those in Claret and Blue at Villa Park following a summer of transfer speculation.
The Reds star will get another chance to test out the quality of the Greek netting on Tuesday when Forest face Olympiacos at the Karaiskakis Stadium.
