Fans praise Cillian Murphy for his 'masterclass performance' as fifth season of Peaky Blinders continues

Fans last night praised Cillian Murphy for his “masterclass performance” as the fifth season of Peaky Blinders continued.

The second episode set off at a quick pace as the Cork native resumed his role of Brummie gangster Tommy Shelby.

Murphy’s character is at the Arrow House when he receives a call from a mysterious new ally with potentially devastating information.

While in Westminster, Tommy, his sister Ada and Oswald Mosley meet to discuss business.

Meanwhile, a rival gang, keen to send a message to the gang boss, use brutal means to do so. And at
the Garrison pub, Arthur and Finn reveal their plans to expand the Peaky Blinders’ business empire.

Taking to social media after last night’s airing, fans lavished praise on the BBC show.

One said: “So that Peaky Blinders episode was one of the best in the entire series. I was holding my breath basically the entire episode.

“This season’s set up to be one of the best yet. Absolute masterclass performance from Cillian Murphy –even by his standards.”

Another added: “A sheer masterpiece. Utterly adore the sheer triumph of a gripping drama with a great cast headed by the always incredible Cillian Murphy as the sheer bad-ass Tommy Shelby.

“Such a shame we only get six episodes per season but six is always better than zero. Can’t wait for more.”

A third gushed: “Just watched the second episode of Peaky Blinders
and Jesus Christ it was absolutely amazing! Tommy’s slowly losing himself into pure madness and Cillian Murphy is bloody brilliant.”

In next Sunday’s episode at 9pm on BBC One the charismatic Mosley, played by Sam Claflin, shows his
hand while Tommy prepares to make a treacherous new alliance.
