Fans praise Alex Beresford's 'amazing and moving' knife crime documentary

Good Morning Britain's weatherman Alex Beresford returned to his home town of Bristol as part of his new documentary on the knife crime epidemic which aired this evening (April 25).

The ITV programme was filmed just weeks after Alex's cousin Nathaniel Armstrong, 29, was stabbed to death near his home in Fulham, South West London.

In November, 38-year-old Alex spoke out during a heated knife crime debate on GMB, arguing building more prisons was not an effective way of dealing with the crisis.

During tonight's show, he quizzed residents in Bristol about why they didn't follow a life of crime.

One man answered, he had good support from the local community and facilities on offer to keep him distracted - he argued these venues have now fallen victim to council's cut.

Following the show, scores of people have taken to social media to praise Alex for the 'amazing' and moving programme.

Diversity member Jordan Banjo wrote: "Huge amount of respect to my guy Alex Beresford for his show on knife crime tonight on ITV!

"Well done bro, so good to see people like you making a positive impact on a very serious and real issue."

One woman tweeted: "A powerful and much needed programme, well done for bringing it to the forefront of everyone’s minds and making it real and not just a piece of news we all hear and pass by."

And another said: "Alex Beresford that was brilliant! Rehabilitation, listening, respect and understanding is what will help fight knife crime."
