Fans overwhelmingly vote against Steve Bruce remaining in charge of Newcastle under new owners

With things about to change in the boardroom at Newcastle United, fans have had their say regarding the man in the dugout via a flash 24-hour takeover poll launched by ChronicleLive.

Thousands of supporters completed our survey posted in the immediate aftermath of Wednesday's news that Saudi Arabia had lifted their ban on the screening of beIN Sports in their territory.

Saudi Arabia is one of the largest countries in the MENA region that beIN pay the Premier League handsomely to broadcast across, but until now have been unable to do so because of restrictions put in place by the Saudi government.

This week's resolution has opened the door for PCP's Saudi-backed takeover of the club, and fans are beginning to look forward to the future with renewed hope.

That future doesn't appear to feature current Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce. A sizable 89.3% of fans polled told us that they DO NOT want to see Steve Bruce given a chance under new ownership.

It's a clear vote of no-confidence for the under pressure Newcastle United boss who has failed to win a single league game in seven attempts this season and has overseen the team crash out of the Carabao Cup.

In the last 24-hours the odds on Bruce becoming the next Premier League manager to lose his job have also fallen, with the likes of Eddie Howe, Graeme Jones, Chris Wilder and Antonio Conte touted by bookies as potential replacements.

Elsewhere a majority 55.8% of fans were confident that the latest takeover news will organically improve results on the pitch and that is much needed with the team currently second from bottom on just three points.
