Michael Parkinson fans raise concerns for star as they say he looks 'unrecognisable' on GMB

TV stalwart Sir Michael Parkinson appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday to discuss his new book 'Like Father, Like Son' with hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

Michael was joined by his son Mike and spoke to the the presenters about his new book which was prompted by his Life Stories interview with Piers.

The 85-year-old broke down in tears recalling his dad's death 40 years earlier, during his interview with Piers last year.

Michael said he had "locked his grief away in a compartment" until the moment Piers asked about his father's death.

He said: "That's what the conversation with [Piers] did, I was fine and we joked about it before, 'You're not going to make me cry'.

"But it did, it opened a door that I had closed for too long, and the memory of [my father] in that bag and being in that bag, reduced to that, my father.

"It was too much for me. I don't regret crying for my father, you should be allowed to do that any time."

Michael had said on Life Stories, while wiping away tears: "The thing that kind of nags at me like a nightmare is that two guys came to take the body away.

"I see the image very clearly and I thought he’s got to be worth a lot more than that… carrying him out in a little plastic bag.

"He knew how much I loved him, I never found it difficult to say that to him – nor he to me."

Many viewers commented on Michael's appearance, with some remarking he had aged.

Another wondered: "When did Parky get so old? Mind you, its a privilege denied to so many...  #gmb  ".

"Parky is hardly recognisable there  #gmb  " remarked a third.

A fourth added: "  #GMB  if I seen him in a picture I'd of never of known it was Michael parkinson".
