Speaking to Glasgow Live, Lucy said: "Me and my girlfriend Ailie were just walking along George Square when we noticed Ariana with a group of her friends so we quickly rushed up and asked for a photo.

"It was amazing to meet her, she was so friendly and welcoming she was asking how we all were and if we were excited and happy.

"I asked for a photo and she took my phone and turned the flash off in a friendly way and we were all laughing and joking. She made us feel like her own friends!"

The news left some fans delighted while other were gutted to have missed the chance to meet the 26-year-old pop icon.

The global star will perform at the Hydro tonight, with doors opening at 6.30pm, with Ariana taking to the stage at around 9.20pm.

Tickets for the show were snapped up by fans in an instant, leading to extra tickets being released last month .
