Fans left in stitches after new RTE 2FM Breakfast line-up's 'team bonding' session

The new era of the RTE 2FM Breakfast Show got off to a hilarious start this morning.

Doireann Garrihy returned to the hot seat, ably assisted by Carl Mullan and Donncha O'Callaghan.

The duo were replacing Eoghan McDermott, who left the station earlier this year.

Many would have wondered whether the three hosts would have good chemistry together - one of the key things needed for any radio partnership.

But they had little to worry about, as Carl and Donncha in particular had gotten quite close.

They had taken a pre-show shower, much to the surprise (and joy) of Doireann.

Donncha explained: "The team that shower together win together, that's what I'm going with", to the delight of Doireann, who replied: "That's full on team vibes lads!"

But Carl had one slight issue, saying: "There's nothing like being in a dressing room with a former Irish Rugby International to make yourself feel 'God I cannot wait for the gyms to open this day next week'" - leaving his co-hosts in stitches.

Donncha quickly chimed in with: "I'd like it to be a regular thing, I really enjoyed it!"

Though she admitted that she felt left out of the team, Doireann wasn't sure if she ever wanted to be a part of it.

Listeners were full of praise for the trio on their first day as a hosting team.

One said: "If you could only bottle this energy and a laugh a minute well done all."

Another listener commented on 2FM's Instagram with: "Crying laughing! Brilliant first show lads"
