Fans left baffled by Piers Morgan's absence from Good Morning Britain

Piers Morgan was missing from Good Morning Britain today - and fans have been left baffled.

Twitter and Facebook were awash with comments as viewers speculated about Piers's absence.

The controversial former newspaper editor routinely presents the ITV1 daytime favourite alongside Susanna Reid.

The pair are usually seen on our screens hosting proceedings from Monday morning to Thursday.

But today, on September 12, Piers was absent from the small screen, according to our sister paper Birmingham Live.

The 54-year-old was replaced by Ben Shephard, while Kate Garraway stepped into Charlotte Hawkins's role as the third reporter.

Scores of fans took to social media following the show to discuss his mysterious disappearence.

"  @piersmorgan  where are you this morning" one fan tweeted, followed by a crying face emoji.

A second chipped in with: "When the kids wake up and ask why  @piersmorgan  isn’t on  @GMB  thismorning."

"Need my  @piersmorgan  fix  @GMB  . Can’t watch without him," another wrote.

But another said: "It's a delight watching #gmb without Piers Morgan"
