Fans in tears over Paddington Bear's touching message to the Queen

Fans said they had tears in their eyes following a touching tribute to Queen Elizabeth II from Paddington Bear. Among countless messages from leading figures across the world was a moving tribute to Her Majesty from Paddington's Twitter account, which read: "Thank you Ma’am, for everything."

The post has since garnered more than 700,000 likes, with followers delighted to see the character pay its respects. The tribute took on added significance due to a delightful video of Paddington Bear and The Queen having tea together.

Followers left their responses below the tribute, with one mourner saying they "didn't think I'd be crying at Paddington today." Others left comments paying their own tributes to The Queen.

One person said: "Very sad day. She was the greatest." A different user said: "You are a very special little bear! She thought so, too."

A third added: "I loved that little film she made with Paddington for her Platinum Jubilee. She had a lovely twinkle in her eye." One person said: "Didn’t think I’d be crying at Paddington today."

While another posted: "This one tweet has reduced me to a snivelling mess."

A period of royal mourning will be observed from now until seven days after the Queen’s funeral, the date of which will be confirmed in due course, Buckingham Palace said.

Further memorial details have also now been confirmed by the Palace, with a spokesperson confirming Balmoral Castle and Sandringham House, the Queen’s private estates, will also close for this period, as will Hillsborough Castle, the sovereign’s official residence in Northern Ireland.

Buckingham Palace said royal residences will close until after the Queen’s funeral, including the Queen’s Gallery and the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace, as well as the Queen’s Gallery in Edinburgh.
