The 33-year-old was back on stage for Strictly The Real Full Monty tonight (Tuesday December 14) but this time to sing with his The Wanted bandmates.
The reunited boyband performed at the start of the second of two heartwarming shows featuring a new line-up of brave celebrities including Christine McGuinness, Blue singer Duncan James and Loose Women star Brenda Edwards.
Father-of-two Tom announced last October that he had been diagnosed with a stage four inoperable brain tumour.
He gave a positive update in January that his treatment was proving effective in keeping the glioblastoma, a type of cancer that starts in the brain, at bay.
And in November he was overjoyed to tell fans that the tumour was under control.
He wrote on social media: "I’m sat here with tears in my eyes as I tell you. We’ve got my brain tumour under control.
"We had the results from my latest scan…and I’m delighted to say it is STABLE.
"Such a mix of emotions . We couldn’t ask for any more really at this point; a year or so in to this."
Speaking to show choreographer and mentor Ashley Banjo after their performance he said: "I did the show two years ago and I didn't think that two years down the line I'd have cancer."
And Ashley told him: "You're a hero, so brave."
Fans were in tears as they watched the band back together.
@CH4NTSx tweeted: "Cannot believe The Wanted are back. And even more Tom is still going through cancer treatment.
"Such a legend!!".
@Hannaah_ox said: "Definitely didn't just shed a tear when Tom started talking..."
@Sonic_Spoilers said: "5 minutes in and I'm already crying at The Wanted."
In September the five-piece group - Tom, Jay McGuiness, Max George, Nathan Sykes and Siva Kaneswaran - made the exciting announcement that they were reuniting.
After responding well to treatment Tom organised a star-studded show at London's Royal Albert Hall where The Wanted performed together for the first time in seven years.
The band scored two number one singles and a string of top 10 hits and albums after forming in 2009.
Their biggest hit Glad You Came in 2011 was also a massive hit in America.
