Fans across the world have been left heartbroken as the cast of Derry Girls bid farewell to the hilarious, family-centred sitcom set during The Troubles.
In a tweet, Nicola Coughlan, who plays goody two shoes Clare Devlin, said her goodbyes to the successful show as the third and final series wrapped.
She said: “Goodbye Derry Girls, it’s been quite a ride”.
Fans of the show were left distraught as the reality of the series finishing for good sunk in.
One person wrote: “Noooo one more season and a movie please.”
A second said: “I hope it's not the last time we see these awesome characters. Maybe a final film to say farewell?

Sorry for being greedy but I love these characters so much.”
While a third said: “Nicola u can’t do this to me”.
However, some believed it was time for those involved in the show to move on as their careers took flight.
They said: “Nicola you are now on your way to bigger and greater things all the very best pet you deserve it. It may not be easy but you will surely make it god bless”.
Siobhan McSweeney, who plays the iconic Sister Michael in the hit series, also said goodbye to her beloved character.
In a tweet, she said: “Goodbye you mad woman. You’ve changed my life. I know you’d hate to hear this, but I love you.”
Fans again pleaded with the actress to give them a little bit of hope that Derry Girls may return in some shape or form.
They said: “It’s too final!!! Leave a sliver of light & hope for us?!?! What about Sister Michael does Celebrity Bake off?!”
A second said: “Sr Micheal will be one of those iconic comedy characters
How you carried off he dry sarcastic wit was spectacular
I loved the show, a spin off show is needed”.
And a third said: “Surely Sr Michael gets her own TV spin-off show? Bloody love #DerryGirls the combination of my Derry family, an English catholic upbringing and savage nuns - perfect!”
Series three of Derry Girls will be released in 2022.
