Fans gathered at outdoor pubs and bars across the city centre to watch England's Euro 2020 game against Scotland.
After almost a year of lockdown, the tables filled with friends and family determined to enjoy the warm summer evening and the chance to watch the game on a big screen with a few welcome pints.
England knew victory against their fierce foes would seal progress to the round of 16 with a match to spare, but Scotland dug deep and gave Gareth Southgate’s side a few scares as they sealed a deserved 0-0 draw.

At The Oast House in Spinningfields, fans were wearing England shirts, waving England flags and chanting “It’s coming home, football’s coming home” and “England!” fans flocked to the Spinningfields bar to watch the match in a fun, friendly atmosphere.
Danny Leach from Salford said; “I’m half Scottish, so I was divided, I wanted Scotland to do well but I would rather England have won. The atmosphere here was great.”
Daniel Del Prete from Rusholme said: “The atmosphere watching was great but the performance wasn’t so great.”
Saffron Rocks from Fallowfield said: “There was a lot of hype surrounding the match and it was good to be here but the actual match itself was not that great.”
Jake Brooks from Droylsden said: “Great atmosphere but there was no movement in the game. There was no one getting behind defence and they were too close to each other.”
England play again on Tuesday in a must-win game against the Czech Republic.
