This Morning fans are having mixed feelings about the show’s newly announced summer hosting line-up, and the reactions online have been anything but subtle, reported the Daily Record.
On Thursday, 10 July, it was revealed that regular presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley will soon be taking their annual summer break, which means a whole new batch of familiar ITV faces are stepping in to fill their shoes over the next six weeks.
The announcement was made via social media, where the show released a lively video introducing the new hosts. And while some viewers were buzzing with excitement, others were quick to slam the choices.
The summer rota is packed with well-known names including Dermot O’Leary, Alison Hammond, Olivia Attwood, Rochelle Humes, Joel Dommett, Emma Willis and Andi Peters. Not stopping there, the line-up also features Craig Doyle, Sian Welby, Rylan Clark and Josie Gibson – so it’s safe to say the programme isn’t short on variety.
Still, it didn’t take long for people to rush to the comments section with some strong opinions.
“A long horrendous summer with loud, rude, screeching presenters. Such a shame as I used to love watching,” one disgruntled viewer wrote.
Someone else added, “The programme is in dire need of a complete makeover to entice viewers to watch again.”
Another chipped in with, “It gets worse and same boring rubbish.”
But not everyone was ready to write off the show just yet. Plenty of fans were thrilled with the change and didn’t hold back their enthusiasm.
“Now there is something to look forward to. All will be well worth watching – yippee!” one fan posted.
Another happily wrote, “Well I can watch This Morning for this time again, after not being able to watch with Cat and Ben… Sorry just can’t take to them, but all the summer presenters I love. Look forward to watching again.”
A third added, “Great summer line-up, especially Emma and Craig.”
ITV clearly hoped to lift spirits with the news, sharing the cheerful clip along with a caption that read: “This summer, get ready for the best staycation ever!
“Holiday from home as some of our favourite faces come together to entertain you. From sofa to sun lounger, brighten up your mornings with our all-star line-up this summer on This Morning.”
Whether it’s love or loathe, one thing’s certain – viewers won’t be short of opinions over the next few weeks. With such a wide range of personalities on screen, the summer schedule is shaping up to be a talking point in its own right.
