Fans hail Electric Picnic 2019 line-up as excitement builds ahead of festival

Fans have hailed the line-up for Electric Picnic 2019 as excitement builds ahead of the latest edition of the festival.

The biggest event of the Irish festival season will get underway at Stradbally Hall, Co Laois at the end of the month.

One fan said they were "buzzing" for the acts to take to the main stage, while another added "Cannot wait!"

Another fan added: "This is a wonderful collection, I'm excited to see Kodaline, The Strokes, Hozier and Razorlight."

Tickets for the three-day event between August 30 and September 1 sold out in record time.

This year was the first time in the 15 years of the event that tickets have sold out months before the line-up was revealed.

This followed the early bird tickets selling out last September, just hours after going on sale - a mere four days after the 2018 festival ended.

And more acts for this year's event were revealed last week as Kodaline were added to the billing alongside Razorlight, King Kong Company and The Riptide Movement.

They will join some huge big-name headliners such as The Strokes, Hozier, The 1975 and Florence and The Machine.

Other big names at the festival include Gerry Cinnamon, Johnny Marr, J Hus, Charli XCX, Richie Hawtin, Richard Ashcroft, All Tvvins, Biig Piig, Brittany Howard, Cassia and David Keenan.

Also joining them are Declan J Donovan, DJ Seinfeld, Duff McKagan, Easy Life, Eve, Fjaak, Girl in Red, Ider, Inhaler, Just Mustard, Kettama, Le Boom, Maverick Sabre, Mella Dee, Otherkin, Powpig, Rebūke, Rob de Boer, Silverbacks, Soja, Somebody’s Child, Sports Team, Talos, Uly, Viagra Boys, White Reaper, Wild Youth, Working Men’s Club and Yonaka.

In addition to enjoying the tunes, revellers can relax in the tranquil whimsical wonderland of The Hazel Wood and The Body & Soul Village.

And organisers are ready to unveil Freetown, an exciting new area, which they say "promises to bring a whole new level of intrigue."
