Fans had plenty of Lane Kiffin jokes after Ohio State wrecked FAU early

College football fans are good at a lot of things, making jokes tearing coaches apart amid catastrophic blowout disasters included.

So naturally, college football Twitter was not kind to Lane Kiffin as Florida Atlantic was down, 28-0, to Ohio State at the end of the first quarter.

With first-year head coach Ryan Day and transfer quarterback Justin Fields leading the Buckeyes this season, there were some questions about how the team would perform this season without Urban Meyer and first-round NFL Draft pick Dwayne Haskins.

Just fine is the answer — at least against Kiffin’s Conference USA team.

It’s unclear if FAU actually had defensive players out there or just people standing around in Owls uniforms because Fields and the Buckeyes were able to do whatever they wanted. Ohio State scored touchdowns on four of their first five possessions and was up, 14-0, in about the first four minutes.

In the first 15 minutes alone, Fields — who was on the preseason Heisman Trophy favorites list — accounted for all four trips to the end zone, going 7-for-9 for 115 yards with three passing touchdowns while adding 54 more yards on the ground and a rushing TD.

Yikes.

Lane Kiffin’s team looked not good, while the Buckeyes finished the first quarter on pace to win the game 112-0 (but by halftime, it was not). Unsurprisingly, the internet tore the head coach apart with jokes about him, his team and maybe losing his job before returning to Florida.

And thanks to FOX Sports, you can watch every second of Kiffin’s misery right here if that’s your thing:
