Lewis Capaldi fans 'gutted' as event cancelled due to 'unforeseen circumstances'

A Q&A session with Lewis Capaldi which was due to take place in Bristol this afternoon (November 26) has been cancelled - but his performance at the O2 Academy tonight is going ahead as planned.

The Scottish singer has been propelled to superstar status this year after his debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, spent six weeks at number one in the charts.

Becoming the highest-streamed debut of all time in its first week, the album also included the country’s biggest smash hit single of the year in Someone You Loved, which spent seven weeks at the top of the UK charts.

Away from the studio, the 23-year-old has proved himself to be a master of social media, using it as a tool to show off his self-deprecating humour, which has only boosted his soaring popularity.

But fans hoping to meet the star at his 'Big Fat Sexy Q&A' at Ashton Gate's Lansdown Suite this afternoon have received an email informing them that the event has been cancelled.

A statement on Bristol Sport's website reads: "Due to unforeseen circumstances this afternoon’s Big Fat Sexy Q&A in Bristol has unfortunately had to be cancelled.

"We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused and you will shortly be refunded in full from your point of sale.

"Lewis is very much looking forward to performing his show tonight at the O2 Academy as planned."

Would-be attendees have shared their disappointment on Twitter.

One fan wrote: "Been buzzing for the Q&A with Lewis Capaldi in Bristol tomorrow.... And now it's been cancelled. And the only way I've been told is by getting an event reminder email saying "*CANCELED* Q&A with Lewis Capaldi is happening soon. What a joke. Gutted."

Another said: "Thought I was seeing Lewis Capaldi today, set off for Bristol and the q&a session is cancelled absolutely gutted."

The singer's press officer confirmed the sold out gig at the O2 Academy will be going ahead as planned.

It is not yet known why the Q&A was cancelled.
