Irish football fans are gutted that Dublin will not host the Euro 2020 last 16 clash between England and Germany.
Three group games and one knockout match were originally scheduled to take place in the city, but they were moved elsewhere because the FAI and government were unable to guarantee spectator attendance.
The last 16 clash would have been the massive meeting of England v Germany and fans are hugely disappointed that the capital is missing out on hosting such a big game.
One person said: "The fact that the Germany England match could be happening in Dublin is making me sick right now."
Another tweet read: "England Germany should have been in Dublin next Tuesday night. Raging."
Dublin Airport posted: "Under the original EURO2020 plans, next Tuesday’s England v Germany game would have been played in Dublin. Would have been an interesting one for the locals."
Someone else commented: "Imagine Dublin didn’t lose the games, we’d be hosting England v Germany Tuesday."
One other tweet read: "England v Germany in Dublin would have been great. Bet the Gardai are relieved though!"
The three group games scheduled for the Aviva Stadium were moved to St Petersburg, while the last 16 clash was switched to Wembley.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin previously claimed UEFA were 'out of order' to demand Euro 2020 host countries to allow spectators into games.
He told RTE's The Week In Politics: "I thought UEFA were out of order, quite frankly, putting that condition on countries."
