Fans erupt as ‘Teen Titans’ Beast Boy actor fired by Warner Bros one day after Parkinson’s diagnosis, but the real reason may be more controversial

Greg Cipes has been the voice of Beast Boy for twenty-two years. If you’ve ever watched Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go! (and pretty much any other voice-acted version of the character), you’ll have heard his distinctive voice, which for many is the canonical voice of the DC hero.

So fans reacted with anger and heartbreak when they learned that Cipes had suffered a double whammy of terrible news. A post to Instagram by the account @gunnofficial revealed that he was fired by Warner Bros on Valentine’s Day, one day after he received a diagnosis for Parkinson’s disorder.

“Greg told me he has been discriminated against because of his Parkinson’s and they are trying to steal his voice and replace him with a mimic for the new teen titans go season. … Greg needs your help!”

Pretty cut and dried, right, and perfectly in character for the extremely unpopular Warner Bros. boss David Zaslav.

But, as it turns out, there may be more to this story than meets the eye. The official reason for Cipes’ departure was “creative differences”, and a peek at his social media activity might clue us in on precisely what that means.

“Liberated from the fear of death”

Cipe has some… let’s go with “esoteric” ideas about medicine. For example, he claims he has Parkinson’s because “they released Covid on us”, going on to blame chemtrails as “slow population control” organized by the diabolical Bill Gates. Perhaps predictably, he’s all over social media saying that “vaccines are poisons”.

Less predictably, he also claims to undergo self-guided “urine therapy”, i.e., drinking your own urine, rubbing it into your skin, or as an enema. He claims to have cured his Parkinson’s with this and is now “liberated from the fear of death”:

Along with this morning mantra I say when I wake up every day, my very detailed and medically administered healing protocol is working. Yesterday I started a 12 day liquid fast to create autophagy in the body and then I’m gonna try for the full intercellular cleansing of 90 days fasting. My Fasting includes Water, green juice, herbal tea, and urine therapy. 💚✊💚 #parkinsons #healingjourney #fastingforhealth #mantra #beastboy

You may have noticed a little animation of Beast Boy himself in the above video. Now, I’m no hoity-toity Warner Bros executive, but if I were, I maybe wouldn’t want my valuable superhero IP to be associated with a creepy guy promoting pee-drinking.

Despite all this, you have to feel some sympathy for Cipes. He is clearly delusional, has Parkinson’s, and is now unemployed (and possibly unemployable). That’s not a great combination. Here’s hoping he gets the help and support he needs.
