KARNAL: The farmers’ sit-in outside Karnal mini secretariat, demanding the suspension and registration of FIRs against then Karnal SDM Ayush Sinha and others over the August 28 lathicharge on protesting farmers, continued on Thursday, with no meeting with the district administration during the day.
Thousands, including women, from several districts of Haryana and neighbouring states have reached there to register their protest. As they continue to sit in the sweltering heat, several social and religious organisations are making all arrangements for their food and water. They have even installed fans in the pandal at protest venue. SGPC has also started langar of kheer besides other food items, while Baba Jagtar Singh Tarn Taran Wale served jalebi on Thursday. Several gurdwara ragis and granthis also distributed almonds and fruits among protesting farmers, who have been spending time smoking hookah and playing cards.
