Fans ecstatic as WWE icon Kurt Angle reveals dream match ahead of WrestleMania

WWE icon Kurt Angle has revealed he will have one last match on SmackDown Live this week versus a dream opponent.

Angle is in the midst of his farewell tour, with the 50-year-old set to retire in a contest against Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35 next month.

There is talk this underwhelming encounter could even be shelved, such was the negative reaction to his last hurrah being against a midcard talent.

Yet while the prospect of the six-time world champion facing Corbin hasn't exactly set fans' pulses racing, a treat lies in store in the meantime.

John Cena WILL compete at WrestleMania 35, backstage sources claim

Before he heads to the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, the blue brand visits the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Tuesday.

And fans are salivating at the prospect of a classic encounter after Kurt announced he will take on one of the world's best in-ring performers.

WWE legend teases dream Undertaker match ahead of Wrestlemania 35

The Olympic Gold Medallist revealed on social media he will face former IMPACT Wrestling nemesis AJ Styles in his final match on SmackDown.

The two met at multiple TNA pay-per-views, including Genesis in 2010 and Slammiversary in 2013, in matches that fans hailed classics at the time.

Nikki Bella says it will 'kill' her to see WWE legend John Cena with another woman

They hold numerous victories over each other, however, this will actually be the first time that Angle and Styles will lock up in a WWE ring.

Tweeting on Sunday night, Kurt simply said: "It’s official. Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles this Tuesday on Smackdown. It’s true!! #farewelltour"

A statement on WWE.com read: "Angle has long been a cornerstone of the SmackDown brand and will undoubtedly create one last classic moment against The Phenomenal One."

Fans have already been tweeting their excitement, with some even claiming that this should have been Angle's WrestleMania match instead of his advertised bout with Baron Corbin - a match many fans still think will be changed come April 7.
