Fans defend 'potty mouth' Jesy Nelson after Graham Norton appearance

Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson turned the air blue as she gave her first solo performance on The Graham Norton Show.

As Jesy joined the other guests - acting legend Dame Judi Dench, Jamie Dornan, Salma Hayek and rapper Tinie Tempah – host Graham asked how she felt her performance had gone.

And Jesy, who performed her debut single Boyz on the BBC chat show, shocked some viewers with her rather frank answer.

She replied: “I’m not going to lie, that’s the most I ever s*** myself."

Graham said in mock disapproval: “Dame Judi Dench, right there."

Later Graham repeated his aside about Dame Judi being within earshot when Jesy again used a profanity.

“I’ve such a potty mouth, I’m sorry,” Jesy laughed.

Some fans took to Twitter to slam the coarse language: "Jesy Nelson acting like a 13 yr old rebelling against her parents.. The embarrassingly forced swearing to look edgy," criticised one.

"Oh dear Jesy, what have you done?" another viewer asked.

"Jesy Nelson potty mouth - her parents must be so proud …" another huffed.

But Jesy received a flood of support from viewers with some pointing out that Dame Judy once claimed in an interview that she 'invented swearing.'

"I thought Jesy Nelson's performance was pretty awesome and surely dame Jude Dench has heard swearing before, stop being such bullies," defended one.

"Saying she’s unattractive because she swears... if it was Sam Fender or some other male celeb you’d all be lapping it up," pointed out another fan.

Another tweeted: "When @Adele swears everyone thinks it’s amazing but because she’s Jesy Nelson the trolls continue to curse?"

And they pleaded: "Leave the girl alone!"

Jesy was also asked about how she is currently getting on with her ex bandmates.

She admitted they were no longer speaking but she added she ‘wishes them all the best.'

Jesy explained: “We’re not talking any more. I know, it’s sad.

“But there is no bad blood from my side and I still love them to pieces.

“I just wish them all the best, genuinely.”
