Fans crushed MLB after umps checked two position players who pitched in blowouts for sticky substances

MLB is becoming more of a joke each day thanks to Rob Manfred and the new rule of having umps checking pitchers on the field for sticky substances.

It has led to some very heated moments, a pitcher dropping his pants, and one ejection that seems sketchy at best.

Things got even more ridiculous Monday night when umps checked not one, but two position players who took the mound during blowouts. I mean, come on. How lame and unnecessary is that?

Phillies second baseman Nick Maton struck out the only batter he faced in the eighth inning of a 12-4 loss to the Reds and got searched on his walk back to the dugout:

Cubs third baseman Eric Sogard got checked after getting one out in what was a 10-run inning for the Brewers:

Unreal.
