Fans convinced Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira are friends after airport meeting

UFC fans think Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira are now friends after the pair bumped into each other at an Australian airport.

Their impromptu meeting comes just a month after Adesanya knocked out Pereira in their UFC 287 rematch to reclaim the middleweight belt. Pereira had won the title with a last-gasp knockout against Adesanya when the pair met for the first time in MMA last November, with the Brazilian previously beating his rival twice in their kickboxing days.

Adesanya posted a video of himself at the airport with Pereira behind him in a queue as the caption read: "My life is a video game". In the video, Pereira catches on to Adesanya filming him and flexes his bicep. Pereira also uploaded a video of his own alongside Adesanya, who cracks a smile and says "respect" before spudding Pereira.

"Well people, check it out," Pereira says in the video. "Last day in Australia, now arriving in LA, and look who I found here. Guess it, huh? One chance... You got it wrong. Israel Adesanya, huh? Chama!" Fans have since reacted to the unexpected interaction with one user writing: "This is awesome, love to see two great warriors being two great people." A second user wrote: "These two are low key good mates in my opinion."

"I love how they are low key best friends," another comment read before a final user wrote: "The bromance with didn't know we needed." Adesanya and Pereira both have a win against each other in the UFC, but a trilogy fight between the pair won't be happening anytime soon as Pereira is moving up a weight class to make his light-heavyweight debut in July.

Adesanya, who is expected to defend his belt against the winner of Robert Whittaker vs Dricus Du Plessis later this year, recently gave his thoughts on Pereira's upcoming fight against Jan Blachowicz. "I think Jan is going to take him down and just beat him up there," Adesanya said on his YouTube channel.

Blachowicz became the first man to beat Adesanya in the UFC when they fought two years ago and 'The Last Stylebender' thinks Pereira will be in for a long night against him. "Jan will stand with him for a bit, but eventually just get him to the fence or try and take him down the way he took me down. I don't think he's going to shoot [for a takedown] so he's either going to get him to the fence," he added.
