Fans around the world can't wait for Justice League Superman star Henry Cavill to put on a kilt for his new role in Highlander.
The Witcher actor, 38, has just been confirmed as the lead role in the remake of the film first released in 1986, which originally starred Christoper Lambert as the kilt wearing lead man.
The film spawned five other Highlander films and a 90's tv series. The film also starred Sir Sean Connery.
Henry was born in Jersey and his mother, Marianne Dalgliesh, was of Irish, Scottish and English heritage.
He rose to fame as the Man of Steel and claims he has been "dipping" into his Scots heritage for inspiration.
He wrote on his Instagram page: "Very exciting news today! I've been a fan of Highlander since I was a lad.
"From the movies in all of their 80s, Queen slathered glory to the TV show with an actor who looked remarkably like one of my brothers."
Henry added: "Being not shy with swords, and having a director as talented as Chad Stahelski at the helm, this is an opportunity like no other.
"Deep diving into franchise storytelling with all the tools at our disposal, is going to make this an adventure I (and hopefully all of you) shall never forget."
The star showed off two books about kilts titled 'Those Bloody Kilts' and 'So You're Going to Wear the Kilt' featuring the history of Scottish soldiers, alongside a 'straight from cask' bottle of whisky and a sgian-dubh .
He added: "And as you can see from the swipe, I've lately been dipping into some of my Scottish heritage, and inadvertently getting my base line research underway."
Fans were thrilled at the prospect of seeing Henry in a kilt.
One enthused: "We’re getting henry cavill in a kilt y’all ! Oh happy day !!"
Another said: "Everyone on my TL is freaking out about Henry Cavill in a kilt. Meanwhile I'm still over here waiting for this to happen..."

And another confessed: "I've never really heard of highlander (although i think it's a genre in romance novels LOL) before but I'm definitely intrigued!! Henry 's gonna look so good in a scottish kilt ;) plus he's probably gonna have a scottish accent UGH it's gonna be great!! #henrycavill "
