Fans are all making the same joke as Jack Grealish seals Man City move while Lionel Messi leaves Barcelona

Irish fans are all making the same joke after Man City officially announced the signing of Jack Grealish on the same evening Lionel Messi became a free agent.

Pep Guardiola has got his £100 million man in the Aston Villa playmaker, but fans have taken to social media to joke about the incredible timing of the deal.

With the former Ireland underage star's move all but sealed since yesterday, it emerged this evening that Messi will leave Barcelona on a free transfer after contract talks broke down.

And with Man City among the few clubs capable of pulling off a deal for the six-time Ballon D'or winner, fans couldn't help but joke about the timing of the big money Grealish deal.

The timing means any potential move for their long term transfer target could well be parked as a result of the Grealish deal.

One fan said: "Someone explain to me exactly how Jack Grealish is worth £100m. Yes, he’s a great player, but in a monetary par with Lionel Messi?".

"Jack Grealish deserves the best opportunities for trophies, he is that good. Just hope he gets used the right way at Man City. The £100m price tag is fair in today's market," another said.

"If Messi signs for City Jack Grealish will see more seats than grass," one fan joked.

One fan joked: "Messi leaving Barca. In totally unrelated news, Man City are trying to pull out of the deal to sign Jack Grealish!".
