And fans were loving the stories told by the Roscommon man as they took to social media during the documentary.

One fan said: "They don't make them like Shane Curran any more".

"Shane Curran is some character that is all you can say," another added.

In the documentary, 'Cake' also opens up on his controversial exit from the Roscommon panel following John Maughan's managerial appointment after Tommy Conroy's dismissal.

“For some reason, people weren’t happy with Tommy. I could never figure it out,” Curran said.

“I knew myself from the inside he was doing a brilliant job. He was removed as manager with two or three games to go in the league and I just felt we never recovered momentum after that.

He continued: “2005 peters out with a defeat to Louth and that was the end of that season. We weren’t to know it but it was the end of numerous inter-county careers.

“I remember vividly Sharon [his wife] coming in with the Roscommom Champion as it was at the time [saying], ‘Famous five have been dropped by new Roscommon manager.’

“What was put out to the general populous was basically that there was five troublemakers being let go. The county board never corrected the record which was wrong.”
