Another Warhammer 40K model from the new edition has been revealed, and fans seem to be unanimously agreeing that it's bloody awesome.
Publisher Games Workshop has been unveiling a new model for Warhammer 40K 11th Edition launch box each week, and this time we're faced with a new version of the greenskins' resident space wizard - the Ork Weirdboy. This hero is a real departure from the norm; rather than the brute strength Warhammer 40K Orks are known for, it unleashes raw psychic power on the foe... and fans appear to be very much in favor of the result.
"Now that's a great model!" writes robertwhite93 on a reddit thread discussing the reveal. Meanwhile, airycantalope adds, "Each of the ork reveals so far are incredible. They really did a great job with that faction."
That's a good point, actually; general consensus amongst fans seems to be that the 11th Edition Ork models are pulling ahead of their Space Marine rivals in terms of quality (if you're still catching up on the news, Orks will be facing off against Space Marines in the 11th Edition Armageddon launch box). As an example, PimperatorAlpatine notes that "This is top Tier," but "I can already Imagine the next Marine reveal to be very underwhelming again." This sentiment is repeated many times throughout the same thread, and I've see similar thoughts from the community on reddit and beyond over the past few weeks. There are still plenty more models to show off, but at the time of writing, it looks as though Orks are the favorites in this matchup.
In terms of how the Ork Weirdboy works, it's an incredibly powerful but volatile magic-user. While the reveal post notes that they are capable of "channelling what they see as the raw energy of Gork and Mork into crackling bolts of green lightning, waves of glowing vomit, and all manner of other horrific phenomena," this could cause their heads to explode from sheer overload. Worse, it could cause nearby Orks to have a, er, cranial meltdown as well.
Still, nothing dampens a Warhammer 40K Ork's spirit - and apparently, other warriors in the army find such disasters "immensely entertaining." That tells you a lot about how Orks work in the game. Want a faction which doesn't take itself too seriously? Orks are your guys.
We don't have an exact release date for Warhammer 11th Edition and the Armageddon box set yet, but we know it lands in June 2026. Better clear the calendar, because it looks like we're gonna be busy this summer...
