The big remaster of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and 2 is a hotly-anticipated remake — paying for a playable demo, however, is something people aren't fans of apparently.
Activision, the company in charge of the remaster, has announced that the Warehouse Demo of the game can be played as of August 14, roughly a month before the game fully releases.
However, the only way to play the demo is by pre-ordering the game.
People online have pointed out why this might not be the best idea, considering the point of a demo is to try before you buy.
This decision has come under fire from gamers online who have voiced concerns that a 'paywall demo' is nothing but 'greedy'.
Some tweets are drawing attention to the demo.
The tweet goes on to explain that this particular warehouse level which you'd be able to play in the demo has been a free feature in nearly every Tony Hawk& game.
“IDK why you’d lock a demo for a single level that’s been in like 7 past Tony Hawk games behind a pre-order", reads the tweet.
Suffice it to say, people aren't best pleased with this decision.
Another Twitter user blasted the choice, saying: "Don't hide demos behind a pre-order paywall. What a scummy thing to do. People who have pre-ordered the game have already decided to buy your game. Your demos are supposed to be for people who are unsure".
We have reached out to Activision for a comment regarding this, but for now, if you want to play the demo, you're going to have to pre-order the game.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 And 2 will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, September 4.
