Newcastle United’s catering contractor, Sodexo, is recruiting staff for front and back-of-house positions.
The club is also recruiting for match day event stewards to work events on site at St James’ Park, and the Newcastle United Foundation are looking for a marketing and communications manager.
Here's a list of current vacancies along with how to apply.
Front of house
Waiting staff/Drinks staff
The ideal candidate would:
- Thrive in a busy environment, being able to multi-task, combining taking food and beverage orders across multiple tables.
- Remain proactive, clearing cutlery, crockery, glassware and general debris in order to keep tables clean.
- Be confident in describing menu dishes and taking food and beverage order
Kiosk staff
The ideal candidate would be responsible for:
- Preparing and serving guests food and drinks in line with service standards.
- Cash handling, and settling bills through a variety of payment methods.
- Maintaining a clean workspace and replenishing and rotating food items as required

Bar staff
The ideal candidate would be responsible for:
- Preparing and serving guests drinks in line with service standards.
- Cash handling, and settling bills through a variety of payment methods.
- Maintaining a clean workspace and replenishing and rotating stock as required
Fine dining staff
The ideal candidate would be:
- Confident in describing menu dishes and taking food and beverage orders
- Confident in fine dining etiquette and attentive to guest needs.
- Confident recommending and serving wines and champagne
Box staff
The ideal candidate would be responsible for:
- Setting the room in line with guests’ specifications.
- Taking beverage orders, restocking and replenishing products as required.
- Serving food while adhering to specific service standards and procedures
Back of house
Porters
The ideal candidate would assist the porters’ team in:
- Setting rooms in line with guests specifications.
- Moving furniture or stock while adhering to safe systems of work guidelines.
- Storing any equipment surplus to requirements safely and securely
Cellar team
The ideal candidate would assist the cellars team in:
- Maintaining a tidy work environment, storing all stock securely
- Transferring stock to multiple areas, with the necessary records of this kept.
- Changing kegs and gas cylinders
Glass collectors
The ideal candidate would be responsible for:
- Collecting glass, in order to keep areas tidy and free of debris.
- Liaising with bar staff to ensure a sufficient glass supply.
- Polishing and washing glass as required

Kitchen
Chefs
The ideal candidate would assist the executive head chef in:
- Preparing and serving meals of the highest standard
- Working in busy kitchens, which may be serving multiple areas at any one time
Kitchen porters
The ideal candidate would assist the kitchen team in:
- Providing the necessary crockery, cutlery and utensils for each kitchen
- Washing and polishing any equipment returned to the kitchen
Management
Stand manager
The ideal candidate would:
- Ability to work and lead in a high pressure environment
- Confident in staff management
- Confident to oversee the smooth operation of multiple retail units at once
Team leader
The ideal candidate would:
- Confident in working within and leading a small team
- Confident in cash handling, till use and cashing-up tills
Room manager
The ideal candidate would:
- In depth knowledge of the hospitality industry
- Adaptable and willing to rise to a challenge
- Confidence to oversee the operation within a hospitality area, such as a restaurant or sports bar

Match day stewards
Duties will vary depending on what event you are deployed on but generally duties will include:

Meeting and greeting customers as they come through the stadium gates

Helping customers within the sports ground

Assisting with car park duties

Securing crowd perimeters and safety zones

Liaising with clients and customers
Previous experience working as an events steward would be beneficial but not essential as well as holding a level 2 spectator safety qualification.

Newcastle United Foundation - Marketing and communications manager
The successful candidate will develop and deliver a Communications strategy for Newcastle United Foundation to increase engagement with donors and funders, participants and fans.
They will build relationships with key stakeholders including donors, local and national media, MPs, supporters groups, fans and other stakeholders to promote the work of the Foundation.
