Fancy lunch with Marco Pierre White in Durham? Or you could join him for dinner later in Newcastle

Celebrity chef and restaurateur Marco Pierre White is inviting members of the public to join him for a lunch-time date on Monday when he arrives to celebrate the first birthday of his Durham restaurant.

The famous face will be hosting lunch at his Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill in Hotel Indigo which opened a year ago in the revamped city landmark Old Shire Hall.

There he will be showing off a new menu while also issuing signed copies of his renowned cook book White Heat.

Local food-lovers who are unable to make lunch have a second chance to catch up with him as White will be heading to the Newcastle branch of Hotel Indigo afterwards for a similar dining experience at his other restaurant, where dinner will be served from 6.30pm.

This Steakhouse Bar & Grill opened in 2012 and during a visit there four years later he spoke of its success in this interview with The Chronicle .

Now, on his return to the region, the chef, who famously gave back his coveted Michelin stars - after becoming the youngest ever chef to win three - to take a different culinary direction, is especially keen to celebrate the first anniversary of his Durham steakhouse which launched in 2018 following the Old Shire Hall's £15m refurbishment in Old Elvet.

He will be unveiling a new menu, which promises some "exciting eclectic creations" capturing White's love for perfectly-cooked classic dishes.
