Fancy driving a bus? Go North East is hiring bus drivers and holding an open day

Looking for a job, or simply fancy a career change?

Go North East is offering an opportunity that could just be the ticket for you.

The North East's largest bus operator is hiring new drivers and will hold an open recruitment day at the Metrocentre coach park.

The company will give aspiring drivers to get behind the wheel and test drive a bus from 10am until 2pm on Sunday.

Go North East, the region’s largest bus operator, is looking for new drivers to fill vacancies.

No previous bus driving experience is required to become a bus driver, and full training worth around £1,500 is provided free of charge.

Keith Robertson, recruitment and training manager at Go North East, said: “Our team will be on hand to talk to people throughout the day, offering advice and giving more background on what it’s like to work for Go North East.

“We hope visitors will get a real sense of what it’s like to work for us – being part of a well-established and respected regional business, that has great opportunities for progression.”

The company is also looking to add more engineers to its ranks to help keep the wheels moving on its 650-plus buses.

Successful applicants will also be to take advantage of a number of perks including free travel for themselves and the family, and discounts at top retailers and attractions.
