Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still a year away, and the fan-theories surrounding Sadie Sink’s character continue to swirl. Today, Internet sleuths were trying to figure out some “leaked” images of the actress from the Marvel movie’s set. The pictures in question had Sink done up with some camo pants and a familiar looking skull insignia.
As you would imagine, people lost their lids in short order, but we have reason to believe those images aren’t real. Still, this seems like the latest moment of the people online wishing on various stars. Still, the idea that Sadie Sink would be playing The Punisher’s protege Rachel Cole is a wild sentence to even type out to be honest. We would be so deep in the Marvel character grab bag that casual fans might not even understand that they’re supposed to be excited about this reveal online.
Still, after all the set videos and pictures that have made their way onto the World Wide Web, the buzz around Spider-Man: Brand New Day is too real. (Let’s not forget that Marvel has been driving the bus on some of this stuff too. Crispy footage from the first day of filming, yeah about that…) As the release date draws nearer, the wild speculation around Sink’s character and this movie’s story is only going to grow louder.
Sadie Sink as Rachel Cole?
So, let’s go over the most recent bit of fan-theory madness. Sadie Sink as Punisher accomplice Rachel Cole. The character is created by Greg Rucka and Marco Checchetto. Rachel is a relatively recent addition to The Punisher’s band of characters. She debuted in 2011’s Punisher Volume 9 #1.
The Punisher was hot on the trail of the shadowy organization known only as The Exchange. When the group in question murders Rachel’s entire family (that seems to keep happening around Frank Castle), she wants revenge. With her Marine training, she begins to align with The Punisher in an effort to root out The Exchange. So, there’s a tidy backstory for the redhead.
We already know that Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. His presence has only made other people more willing to shove Daredevil and others into this story. Seeing a young vigilante around Peter Parker’s age would make sense for a project like this. But, it might just be a stretch at this point. You can’t feel like anything is too concrete.
People are going to keep cycling through Marvel redheads
The one big trait that everyone keeps zeroing-in on is Sink’s haircolor. People believed she could be Firestar, or Jean Grey earlier in the hype cycle. (Don’t forget about the constant calls for Black Cat at some point in this series.) No one really knows at this point. And judging by that new photo, we’re no closer to knowing. Would the whole Rachel Cole thing be cool? I guess! But, there’s no need to rush into assuming.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day carries a feeling of a fresh start into 2026. For big critics of the previous Tom Holland trilogy, a chance for a grounded story. For people who loved the MCU’s Spider-Man, another adventure with an Infinity Saga favorite. In any case, we’ll know a lot more in a few months. But, in the meantime try not to get taken in by any doctored photos in the meantime.
