Fan Pulse: Which expired contract do Miami fans want to see resign?

Today’s #FanPulse poll is centered around which now-free agent Miami Dolphin fans want to see back with the team in 2019, but with a twist. We’ve attached average salaries to each of these players, in hopes making things a little more interesting.

The poll, which we ran on Twitter (@thedolphinswire), featured two long-time Dolphins and a long-time Miami favorite.

  • OT Ja’Wuan James ($10m/year average)
  • DE Cameron Wake ($8m/year average)
  • RB Frank Gore ($1.5m/year average)

Not too sentimental, this group of Dolphins fans. The voters seemed dialed into the long-term benefit of James, who is 26 years old and figures to have two or three more contracts left in his pro career.

With 62 starts under his belt, James is who he is: a solid, if not spectacular starting right tackle in the NFL. And apparently the fans would rather see his continuity along the offensive line than hold on to the glory of what has been with Cameron Wake, or the leadership of Frank Gore.

Did the fans get this one right? Or are they too willing to over-pay for James’ return to South Florida? With reports out that James is looking to cash in the most expensive contract of any right tackle, his listed $10m average salary may be a discount, as well.
