It is Groundhog Day in South Florida. Another year, another round of reports that Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker is looking unstoppable in offseason workouts. Are you buying the hype? It’s hard to really take the reports at anything other than face value, considering this is the fifth year Parker has received rave reviews for his raw physical talent.
It’s high time that talent shows up in the way of production. Parker is one of several candidates to lead the Miami Dolphins in receiving in 2019 — he and fellow receivers Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson are the three most likely candidates to finish the year atop the stat sheet.
Each has a different set of strengths — Parker is a “height, weight, speed” mismatch player who can make plays in highpoint situations down the field. Stills is a burner in the open field and a crafty route technician but he truly shines when he’s given the chance to work vertically down the field. And Wilson is a nightmare in short spaces, he’ll feast from the slot and make defenders miss — creating his own yardage in the process.
