On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Steelers will take over Saint Vincent College for the 54th time as training camp begins. For a franchise steeped in tradition, camp at Latrobe is the epitome of staying the course. It’s been a long offseason as the Steelers have tried to divest themselves from everything but football.
If you are planning to attend training camp this year, here are some things you need to know.
Players report on July 25 and practices start on July 26. The players put the pads on the 28th. Training camp ends on August 16 with the last public practice on August 15.
There are 13 practices open to the public at Saint Vincent College and two more that will take place off-campus.
On August 2, the Steelers will hold their annual Friday Night Lights event at Latrobe Memorial Stadium and on August 6, the team will travel back to Heinz Field for Steelers Family Fest. Both events will include night practices. Friday Night Lights starts at 5 p.m. and Steelers Family Fest at 4 p.m. with both of these being paid admission events.

There is lots of parking near the campus for those who want to attend and fans are typically allowed to enter around 1:30 p.m.. The crowds can become huge so you want to plan accordingly as far as how much time to allow for arrival, parking and getting to the practice field. If you want autographs from players, plan to show up early and stay late.
