Fan-favorite actor departing General Hospital after three years

Kate Mansi is leaving her role as Kristina Davis on General Hospital after three years.

The Daytime Emmy-winning actor, 38, took over as the daughter of mob kingpin Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his former attorney, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), on the long-running soap opera in 2023.

The character was first introduced in 2002 and portrayed by several child actors before she was rapidly aged in 2009 with Lexi Ainsworth stepping into the role. Ainsworth departed in 2011, and the character was reintroduced the following year, portrayed by Lindsey Morgan until 2013. In 2015, Ainsworth returned to the role, with sporadic appearances until her official exit in 2023, when she passed the torch to Mansi.

“I’ve made the very difficult decision to leave General Hospital,” Mansi told TV Insider’s Stephanie Sloane for her blog SoapSteph. “I have a few new projects that require my full attention, and with my husband [Matt McInnis] currently producing a series filming primarily abroad, I needed the flexibility to travel while continuing to develop and work in Los Angeles.”

She expressed her gratitude to ABC, executive producer Frank Valentini, and the show’s writers for “the care they gave Kristina.”

“It’s been such a meaningful and unforgettable ride,” Mansi continued. “I’ve loved being a fiery Corinthos-Davis girl in such a phenomenal family.”

News of Mansi’s departure has left General Hospital fans devastated.

“You will be very missed on that show,” one wrote on Instagram. “Very heartbreaking.”

A second similarly commented: “Super sad to hear you’re leaving GH. You were one of my favorites.”

“I’m devastated that you are leaving GH but can’t wait to see what’s in store for you!” a third enthused, while a fourth called her exit a “bummer,” adding, “I think you did a great job as Kristina and will be missed plus the onscreen sister chemistry you have with Molly is great.”

“I’m happy for you but so sad for us,” another said. “You’ve been an amazing Kristina.”

Before joining General Hospital, Mansi starred on Days of Our Lives as Abigail Deveraux from 2011 to 2020. For her performance, she earned a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2018.

Mansi made her on-screen debut in a 2008 episode of the hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother. She has gone on to appear in several TV movies, including Unwanted Guest (2016), Boyfriend Killer (2017), Maternal Secrets (2018) and The Office Mix-Up (2020). She also appeared in five episodes of the one-season drama Casa Grande in 2023 before signing on to General Hospital.
