Fan allegedly attacks Blackhawks mascot Tommy Hawk after Friday night's game

CHICAGO _ In an incident captured on video that has gone viral on social media, a fan allegedly attacked Blackhawks mascot Tommy Hawk after Friday night's game against the Jets at the United Center, according to Chicago Police.

The man "fled the scene" before police arrived, and no arrest had been made as of Saturday night, a police spokesman said.

United Center security contacted Chicago Police after the incident, and a report was filed. Police said the alleged attacker was a white male, 18-20 years old, 5-foot-5 and 160 pounds.

The incident took place in the United Center concourse around 11:15 p.m., about an hour after the Hawks' 4-3 overtime loss.

Video circulating on social media shows the man portraying Tommy Hawk and the alleged attacker physically confronting each other before Tommy Hawk picks up the man and slams him to the ground, then appearing to get in a couple of punches.

Then they both get off the ground and wrestle _ with Tommy Hawk being the aggressor _ before the roughly 24-second video ends.

"We are aware of an incident that occurred on Friday night between an individual and a Blackhawks' employee at the United Center," the team said Saturday in a statement. "We are gathering the facts and will have no further comment at this time, pending our investigation."
