A famous YouTuber has died after drowning in an icy lake while filming a new video for his channel.

It comes less than a week after Norwegian Thor Eckhoff, better know as 'Apetor', posted a video to his 1.2 millions followers from an icy bath saying "I am not dead".

However, the horrific incident that led to his death took place on November 26 at the Jakobs Dam lake, near the town of Kongsberg in the Norwegian county of Viken.

Police confirmed that Eckhoff drowned at the lake while filming a new video for his popular channel.

But just four days before, on November 22, he had posted a video on his channel titled ‘I am Not Dead, I am 57 Today’. It proved to be his last upload and has been viewed over 870,000 times.

He was famous for posting videos of him drinking vodka, rolling around on thin ice, diving into freezing lakes and taking ice baths.

He was working alone when he fell through the ice while filming his latest video, however, his screams were heard by an eyewitness who called the emergency services.
