Celebrity Leeds United supporter Dave Clark announces decision to leave Sky Sports

TV presenter Dave Clark is stepping back from hosting darts coverage on Sky Sports.

Over the years, the presenter, born in Ilkley, has been an inspiration to many in the way he’s continued working despite his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis.

Clark joined Sky Sports News on its launch in 1998 and went on to present televised Professional Darts Corporation tournaments and Premier League Darts.

He has also appeared on Soccer AM, Soccer Saturday and Sky Sports' boxing coverage.

Clark, who is a famous Leeds United supporter, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2011 but continued to do what he describes as ‘the best job in the world’.

The presenter announced his decision to leave Sky on social media with lots of fans and famous faces paying tribute to him.

Elaborating on his decision, Clark, said the coronavirus lockdown period had helped put his life in perspective.

“Lockdown has given us all a lot of time to think, on occasions too much time, but it's given me time to sort out my priorities,” he explained on Sky Sports.

“Family comes first. I'm keen to spend more days with my wife and two sons. Time is a real luxury that so many have been denied during this difficult period.”

Clark told fans he was very proud of his career - particularly after his Parkinson’s diagnosis.

“When I was diagnosed with Parkinson's a 'specialist' said I'd only be able to present live sport for two or three more years.

“Nearly a decade after that diagnosis, I can still present live television, on stage, in front of 10,000 people.”

Clark is planning to write a book about darts and we are sure he’ll be closely following Leeds United as they get nearer to Premier League promotion.
