Famous Irish pub that stayed open now forced to shut as Covid-19 case confirmed

A famous Galway pub has been forced to close its doors after a staff member was confirmed to have Covid-19.

The well known Roisin Dubh pub and music venue in the heart of Galway confirmed the news on Friday night.

The pub had been able to keep its doors open in level three due to their beer garden which allowed for serving up to 15 people outdoors.

However, due to a confirmed case the owners have opted to shut for a few days in the interest of safety.

They said in a statement: "We have just found out tonight that one of our team has a confirmed case of Covid-19.

"While this person has not been in work this week, and we have not yet been contacted by the HSE, for the safety of our staff & customers we are temporarily closing. All our staff will be tested for COVID-19 and we will be deep cleaning the premises, and following all HSE safety protocols. We will be back with an update as soon as we have more information."

Pubs and restaurants that can serve outside are allowed to open during level three restrictions with many punters across the country braving the rain and cold to have a pint or meal.
