Famous Galway pub that opened the same day phase four was cancelled thanks to clever idea

Locals have been left delighted as famous Galway pub Tig Choili opened its doors again this week after four months closed.

The Latin Quarter spot had been planning to get operations up and running again on August 4 which happened to be the same day many pubs received a hammer blow.

The family run pub had been shut for much of the year but thanks to a clever link-up they have been able to open while adhering to guidelines.

With the help of a local pizzeria the Galway traditional spot is back in business with the added luxury of pizza.

The pub announced in a statement: "Folks, it is with great pleasure and excitement that we inform you, that after over 4 months closed , we will be opening our doors again on Tues Aug 4th.

"In line with current government guidelines and in Conjunction with our friends in Pizza Napoli( proper Italian Schtuff!).

"We will be serving pizza and lovely lovely pints from 12pm to 10pm!"

The pub is renowned for its live music but with current restrictions that is a while off yet.

They added: "In regards to live Traditional music, this is our No.1 priority to return all the sessions as soon as we get the green light to do so!

"Having Tig Choili without music is like having pineapple on a pizza, just not quite right!

"Hope to see ye all at some stage folks! Booking advised as we only a small pubín and can be done through Facebook or the website."

Unfortunately not all pubs got the good news that they would be opening again soon after the Government pushed back phase four until August 31 at the earliest.

There has also been no guarantee give that "wet pubs" - pubs without food - will get to open in 2020 at all.
