Famous faces gather to pay their respects to Oscar-winner Glen Hansard

  • Oscar-winning musician Glen Hansard's funeral was held today at St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, attended by stars from music, film, and politics.
  • Hundreds of fans gathered outside the cathedral, watching the service on large screens, while many had queued for hours to attend.
  • Notable attendees included musicians Hozier, Bono, Declan O’Rourke, Jerry Fish, and Imelda May, as well as actors Steve Coogan and Chris O’Dowd, and former Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams.
  • Hansard, frontman of The Frames, died last week at 56 in a motorcycle crash on the outskirts of Dublin, shortly after a traditional music session.
  • He was celebrated for his Oscar-winning song Falling Slowly , his role in The Commitments , and his annual Christmas Eve charity busk for the homeless.
