Famous Edinburgh bar reopens as Indian street food restaurant after lockdown 'reincarnation'

For many Edinburgh locals, a night out (especially in our student days) involved a stop off at Broughton Street's long standing cocktail bar Treacle - with news of its closure during lockdown devastating many.

However, the city centre bar has reemerged on Instagram - but it's very different to the watering hole you'll be used to.

Described as a "reincarnation of Edinburgh’s favourite cocktail bar as a contemporary Indian street food restaurant", Treacle has now reopened its doors on the Royal Mile as a restaurant instead of a bar on Broughton Street.

The new restaurant's bio reads: "TREACLE ROYAL MILE is a premier and authentic Indian Restaurant that brings you the best of Indian Street Food from DELHI to MUMBAI to HYDERABAD to the sunny beaches of GOA we have carefully selected the best dishes and perfected them with our highly experienced chefs."

Dishes include Railway Station Lamb, Jackfruit Bhajis, Paneer and Pineapple Tikka and Goan Fish Curry.

Treacle Royal Mile is located at the former Frankie and Benny's site at 130 High Street - you can follow them on Instagram here.
