Famous Dublin pub pay emotional tribute to well-known 'oldest customer' who sadly died over Bank Holiday weekend

The northside has lost another great Dublin character following the death of legendary local man Mick Duffy.

His sad death on Bank Holiday Monday has put the people who knew him well around Dublin 1 into a state of mourning.

And one group who will miss him dearly is the staff at Lloyd's Bar on Amien Street.

The iconic watering hole on the corner near Mountjoy paid an emotional tribute to its "oldest customer" and dear friend.

They said: "It is with a heavy heart we say goodbye to one of our oldest customers and good friend Mick Duffy, who passed away on Monday.

"Mick, you will be sadly missed by staff and customers."

They added: "Morning shifts will never be the same, we will miss your great sense of humour and the chats. Thinking of his family at this sad time. RIP pal."

Another local described their heartache at hearing the sad news adding: "R.I.P my dear friend Mick. Will miss you for our little chats and laughs at our evening session in Lloyd’s.

"You are now at peace with your beloved wife and loved ones who will meet you at the gates. Hope you get the best bed in heaven."

Another said: "Ahhh jaysus. Rest In Peace Mick. We will miss dropping your tea to you on Fridays. A gentleman."
