Famous A64 Red Bus Cafe goes up for auction with low guide price

The A64 Red Bus Cafe goes under the hammer next month.

The famous former cafe – once a favourite stop-off for drivers travelling between York and Leeds – will be auctioned next month with a guide price of between £15,000 and £20,000. The double decker bus on York Road, near Thorner, has been on sale for a year.

A buyer of the bus, comprising a fully fitted kitchen downstairs and a seating area upstairs, could enjoy a 'gross return of 44 per cent', according to Auction House West Yorkshire which will be running the sale.

The listing says: "Most will have eaten here at some point and those that haven't will have surely driven past.

"We are now offering you the chance to acquire this famous Leeds landmark, The Red Bus Cafe.

"Sure to be of interest to investors and those looking to set up their own business, the premises comprise a fully fitted double decker bus with ground floor kitchen and upstairs seating area.

"We have been advised that it was last rented at £6,600 per annum suggesting a gross return of 44% would be possible based on the lower guide price."

While the bus has no mains electricity, power is supplied by a generator in an adjacent container which is included in the deal. All fixtures and fittings are also included.

The cafe goes under the hammer at the Norman Hunter Banqueting Suite, Elland Road Stadium, on December 11 (2pm).
