Family woken up at 5am to find burglar running away from their home

A man has been arrested after residents spotted a suspected burglar running away from their home in the early hours of the morning.

Police say they were called to Morven Grove, in Breightmet, Bolton, at 5am yesterday following a report from homeowners on the residential cul-de-sac.

They were woken by an alarm and got up in time to see a man running from the area.

Now officers have arrested a 43-year-old on suspicion of burglary in relation to the incident.

In a post on GMP's Both North Facebook page, a spokesman for the force said the man would remain in custody to be questioned.

"A man has been arrested following a house burglary in #Breightmet yesterday," they said.

"Around 5am on Thursday, July 9, police received reports of a burglary at a house on Morven Grove in Breightmet.

"The occupants of the house were woken up by their house alarm and saw a man running off.

"This morning (Friday, July 10), officers from the Breightmet Neighbourhood Team arrested a 43-year-old man on suspicion of burglary.

"He remains in police custody for questioning."
