Family trip to Cumnock ended in drunken row

Diane Hodge, 50 and Andrew Hodge, 49, from Thomson Street, Ayr, appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court on Wednesday, July 10.

They admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear and alarm, at The Square, Cumnock, on June 4 this year and that they did act in an aggressive manner and shout and swear.

Fiscal Depute Scott Toal told the court how the pair went to Cumnock to visit family but both ended up drinking.

“They were shouting and swearing at each other outside and they continued to shout and swear,” he told the court.

Footage on CCTV caught the pair lying on the ground and they continued to shout and swear.

Officers attended and eventually they were apprehended.

Mrs Hodge’s defence solicitor told the court how Mrs Hodge was a catering assistant, adding: “He’s (Andrew Hodge) a night porter at a

local hotel. She (Diane Hodge) has previous domestic matters and I understand she goes to Ayrshire Council on Alcohol. She also attends

her GP who is dealing with her anxiety and depression.

“She has little recollection (of events). They were visiting his mother and ended up in a local hostelry there.”

Sheriff Mhari Mactaggart fined both accused £220 each.
