Family travel from Canada to celebrate 100th birthday with fish and chips in Seaton Sluice

It's a restaurant that has a big fan in Ant McPartlin as well as getting huge queues every Good Friday and now Harbour View has had a big Canadian seal of approval for its fish and chips.

Ant treated his family to a fish supper earlier this year from the Seaton Sluice restaurant and then over Easter weekend some people queued up for up to 90 minutes for their fish and chip fix as staff worked tirelessly from 5am on Good Friday morning.

Now Harbour View's appeal has spread worldwide after a Geordie lady invited family from Canada to help her celebrate her 100th birthday with some fish and chips.

Born and bred in North Shields, Nelly Telford celebrated her milestone birthday by asking her her family from far and wide to join her for a meal at her favourite restaurant.

Nelly likes nothing better than a visit to The Harbour View, to tuck into her food of choice.

Nelly’s son, Ian, also from North Shields said: “We discovered Harbour View about a year ago and now we go almost every Friday for lunch.

"The quality and size of the fish is amazing, so much so that we invited my mother’s sister (Sylvia aged 93) to try them when she came back to the UK from Canada to celebrate the birthday.

"Everyone was astonished as they hadn’t seen anything like it in Canada.”
