Family touched as The Coronas pay amazing tribute to tragic teenager at Cork gig

The family of teenager who died this year were touched when The Coronas dedicated a song to the young man at their concert over the weekend.

Shayan Nasser-Casey, 19, passed away earlier this year suddenly and had been a huge fan of the band - attending their Cork concert in 2018.

The UCC student was big into his music and was a popular and well-known figure in his first year of college, Cork Beo reports.

On Saturday night the Coronas dedicated their song Heroes and Ghosts to the young man who is missed dearly by his family.

Shayan's sister Clodagh said: "On Saturday night The Coronas dedicated their song Heroes or Ghosts to my brother Shayan in front of a massive crowd in Cork's Independent Park. To say that was an honour is an understatement.

"It was heartbreaking but beautiful. Missing you loads Shy and to Danny and the lads in the Coronas there aren’t any words to thank ye enough."

UCC Music Society also thanked the band for the gesture.

They said in a Facebook post: "On Saturday night, we were so moved by The Coronas dedicating one of their songs to our fellow committee member, Shayan, who tragically left us this past year.

"Shoutout to lead singer Danny for honouring our friend and his family."
